Luckily Dover isn't located in a flood zone

We're not usually rendered speechless here, but this story did it.

Robertson: Pa. Voters Rejected God

"If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just voted God out of your city." Pat Robertson

(CBS/AP) The Reverend Pat Robertson says Pennsylvanians who voted members of the Dover Area school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" rejected God as well. More

If Alan Bonsell is God, or at least God's representative, then the case for atheism becomes overwhelming. :)

More seriously, this shows the power of _absolute_ freedom of speech, and why it's worth fighting for. If allowing Robertson and his like are allowed to state their views openly, in public, the rest of us can see how hate-filled they are and reject them; ban "hate speech", and this sort of thing is never exposed.

Delete "allowing" from the above, sorry.

The real-life Pat Robertson is even better than the Onion Pat Robertson. Not many people you can say that about...

It's a pity it's too late to get Robertson to testify. That statement would be a real clincher that ID is religious in nature. (Not, you understand, that I think there is any doubt about it, but in court, there is nothing like piling Ossa upon Pelion.)

In 1990, when the City of Pittsburgh passed its gay rights ordinance, a minister testified before City Council that if the gay rights law was enacted, it would never rain in Pittsburgh again.

I really wish these homophobic dishonest prophetic wannabes would get their acts and messages straight.

If it means rejecting Robertsons "god" then I'd say all is well and nothing to be worried about there.

Gee, and all this time I thought Intelligent Design was teaching that human beings were created by alien from outer space.

So here must be proof that God has a sense of humor, otherwise She would send someone else to explain Her universe to the rest of us.

Off your knees, Pat - unless you're planning on doing something special for me while you're down there.

Gee, I thought ID was a purely scientific theory that had nothing to do with creationism, God or the bible. If so, then how come God (or at least Pat) is so pissed off about the Dover election?

I just don't know how these people can keep a straight face...

As an ID advocate I respectfully join the ACLU in their appropriate speechlessness.

Sheesh. What a wacko.

USA Today said:

Robertson made headlines this summer when he called on his daily show for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

This guy is a scarey, scarey person with a scarey, scarey God. Scarier yet, is thousands -maybe millions- of people listen to and believe what he preaches and in the God he preaches to.

I watched him on the 700 club not long ago and am convinced that he's displaying symptoms consistent with the early stages of a debillitating neurodegenerative disease.

Or, at lease we can only hope so.

Are you sure it's the *early* stages?

Pat Robertson will have to live with the consequences of his words, just as we will have to live with the consequences of our election in Dover. I'll take the latter anyday;)

Hah! Robertson was way off. He said "I’d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God..." Guess what, Pat. No disaster in our area!

He should have said "Bradford, Bucks, Columbia, Luzerne, Northampton, Northumberland, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties will be declared federal disaster areas." What a farse!

Dover has nothing to worry about. If we did, then God would tell us about it and not Pat Robertson.
